I’m Luke Almandras, and Floorscreed-SR1 is our family business. My dad started it in 2000, and I grew up in the trade. Over 25 years the business has screeded everything from single-room extensions in family homes to large commercial developments, and the standard has never changed: a floor that’s level, laid to the right depth, and ready for whatever goes on top of it.
The screed is the part of a floor nobody sees, but everyone notices when it’s wrong. Tiles crack, wood floors lift, underfloor heating runs cold in patches. Getting it right comes down to experience: choosing the right screed for the job, preparing the base properly, and laying it to tolerance.

How much does floor screeding cost?
It depends on the type of screed, its depth, the size of the area and access to the site. As a guide, sand and cement screed is around £20 per m² and liquid screed around £30 per m² supplied and laid, with a minimum charge of £650. How long does screed take to dry?
Traditional sand and cement screed dries at roughly 1mm per day for the first 40mm, so a typical 65mm floor can take 8–10 weeks before flooring goes down. Liquid and fast-drying screeds can be ready much sooner.
Liquid or traditional screed — which do I need?
Liquid screed is quicker to lay, thinner and ideal over underfloor heating. Traditional screed is hard-wearing and suits almost any floor, especially where you need falls or a bonded finish. We’ll recommend the right one when we see your project.
Can you screed over underfloor heating?
Yes, it’s one of our specialities. We lay the screed to fully encase the pipes at the correct depth, so heat spreads evenly across the floor.
